Blotter - Sterling Silver with Elephant and Foliage Designs
A sterling silver rocker blotter, 5 ¾” x 3”, probably made in India, c. Turn of the 19th Century. Ther sterling silver top plate is chased with a design consisting of a side view of two elephants facing in opposite directions, on either side of the sterling silver knob, surrounded by an all-over design of arabesque foliage enclosed within a beaded edge. The knop is engraved “SER.SUP” within a concentric gadrooned border.
Makings: left facing lion in rectangular cartouche, “HB” within a rectangular cartouche
