“It must be useful. It must work dependably. It must be beautiful. It must last. It must be the best of its kind.” said Alfred Dunhill, founder of the Alfred Dunhill Ltd. brand of tobacciana.
This desktop cigar humidor made by Dunhill in the Art Deco era fits the bill. Made of a beautifully grained wood, likely walnut, with strong smooth sheen and gorgeous original patina, and a front knob, latch and hinges of brass, it is made of the finest materials. The interior is fitted with the original white glass sheets to maintain optimal tobacco storing conditions and the base covered with the original green felt to protect the surface it rests upon.
Inset in the base is a white tag displaying, “ORIENTATOR PAT. No. 232367 / ALFRED DUNHILL LTD. / LONDON PARIS NEW YORK / MADE IN ENGLAND,” dating the box between 1921-1940. It measures 8” long x 3 15/16” wide x 3 3/8” high.
