Gustavsberg Fabriker (Sweden, 1826-1990’s)
Lisa Larson (Gustavsberg, Sweden, b. 1931)
Jonah & The Whale, Traffic Series
ceramic sculpture
6 7/8″ long x 5 1/4″ high
This figure derives from her 1970 line named “Traffic” which features some mode of transportation and one must admit that this most certainly is a unique method of getting from place to place, but such is Larson’s playfulness. A well established ceramist and designer she is well regarded in Sweden as well as the rest of the world and is best known for her humorous depiction of both people and animals. She is tremendously popular in Japan and is most famous for her sculptures. Book “Lisa Larson, Gustavsberg, 1954-80“, Andreas Ribbung, copy 1994 (Swedish text) – highlights her work from 1954 to 1980
