Description: A period Nieuwe Kunst (New Art) vase decorated with a repeating heart and cross motive by Plateelbakkerij de Distel (The Thistle Pottery Bakery) with design likely by Lambertus (Bert) Nienhuis. Dutch Art Nouveau emphasized “structured, geometric designs” whilst still drawing from natural forms and organic, if organized, growth often resulting in, as in this piece, a strong Arts & Crafts feel.

“The factory won twelve international awards, and Nienhuis himself won a gold medal in Brussels.” Collections: Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam; Princessehof Ceramics Museum; Museums Boijmans Van Beuningen; Victoria and Albert, London; Met Museum, New York; etcetera

Condition: Antique, Very Good
For Accuracy: insignificant wear, an Antique it may show expected light signs of age. There is light cracklure which is typical for this type of pottery. See Photographs.
