Description: A period Nieuwe Kunst (New Art) vase decorated with a repeating heart and cross motive by Plateelbakkerij de Distel (The Thistle Pottery Bakery) with design likely by Lambertus (Bert) Nienhuis. Dutch Art Nouveau emphasized “structured, geometric designs” whilst still drawing from natural forms and organic, if organized, growth often resulting in, as in this piece, a strong Arts & Crafts feel.
