A series of islands linked by bridges in the Venetian Lagoon renowned for glass making. Settled in the 6th Century it wasn’t until 1291 that it became an International glassmaking hub, this after a law was passed that moved all Venetian glassmakers to the islands due to the hazard posed by their hot glass furnaces. While many different glassmakers reside at this location they are sometimes brought together under the umbrella term ‘Murano’ to denote the quality and styles consistent with the area. see also Wikipedia
