Brooch – Georg Jensen – Ibe Dahlquist – #381
JEWELLERY & FASHIONPeriod vintage Georg Jensen sterling silver brooch designed by Ibe Dahlquist, in the Scandinavian Modern style, circa 1965. The organic yet geometric “bi-corn” motif was a thematic form found in a variety of her work from this period which explores the natural within the mathematical. Here it reflects at a central plane forming a vesica piscis shaped internal negative space bringing forth a large expressive impact from a minimal approach. -
Sugar Nips – Georg Jensen – SS, Tongs
SilverSummary: Art Deco / Modernist Georg Jensen sterling silver sugar nips (tongs), the 1930's mechanical design consists of two opposing discs that when compressed enable a scissor action to close on a cube of sugar. This design is rare as it does not have the usual stylized designs that Jensen is noted for but a more novel machine like appearance and scissor action. It is struck with the more desirable early hallmarks, used from 1933-1944, and the London date code “C” for 1938. This dates these tongs as having been produced near to their original design date.
