Founded by Samuel A Weller (1851-1925) in 1872, in Fultonham, Ohio, United States Weller evolved from a small one kiln pottery to an iconic American industry until its closing in 1948. While a short run compared to some of its competitors it produced some of the best quality art and commercial pottery in the Country and for a time was the largest pottery producer in the world. Boasting artists such as Jacques Sicard (1865-1923) from Clement Massier Pottery in France to Frederick Hurten Rhead (1880-1942), from the British Woolliscroft Rhead & British/German Hurten families, and notably the brother to Charlotte Rhead (1885-1947), it incorporated elements from the leading International figures into a wide range of output.
