Clewell – Bowl – Copper Clad
Summary: American Arts & Crafts art pottery bowl clad in a heavy armour of patinated copper, made at Clewell Pottery using Charles Clewell’s patented method of plating a clay body in a “skin-tight” shell of metal.
This example has an attractive shallow round form with inward rolling rim, incised with a circular designating line, raised on three equidistant feet; the carefully applied patina is a bright multi-tonal green over a rich multi-tonal red.
Dimensions: 4 ⅞” diameter x 2 ½” high
Markings: incised on base, “CLEWELL” / “421”
Condition: Antique, Very Good Condition. For Accuracy Only: there are a couple lights scratches to the surface on one side, else no dents, cracks or damage. The original patina is rich and bright.
