slop pail / bucket made by Royal Doulton, Burslem, England, circa 1901.
It measures 11 inches high (9 ⅝ inches without cover / insert) (14 ⅝ inches with cane bail handle raised) x 12 inches across the handle lugs (10 ½ inches diameter without lugs).
It has the Royal Doulton logo used from 1902-1922 that consist of a circle with 4 intertwined “D”s surrounded by: “ROYAL DOULTON
ENGLAND”
This is topped by a crown surmounted by a lion: its body facing left but looking straight out.
A short distance away it is marked in black underglaze with the code for the year 1901:
“D963”
CONDITION: Excellent vintage condition with only a couple of very tiny scrapes.
