Description

SUMMARY:     Antique three-quarter portrait of a gentleman, likely American, circa 1820-1870.

DESCRIPTION: Depicted is a three-quarter view of an older gentleman with serine expression, slightly balding with full muttonchops, wearing a fashionable neck-tie and suit.

NOTES:            The artistic skill is immediately apparent with a finesse of detail and thorough understanding of technique. The sitter is unknown but it certainly would be a true likeness. Personally, I think it looks like President John Quincy Adams.
