Summary: Mid-Century Venetian art glass carafe, made of cobalt glass with polychrome murrines, designed by Gino Vistosi, Venice, Italy, c. 1962. While of carafe form its presentation is that of a decorative jug or vase.
The squat bulbous form is decorated around the waist with a concentric band of marvered murrines of red, grey, black, and white, with a second parallel semi-concentric band below this denoting the front side. The body gradually rises into a narrow neck terminating in a fire-polished rim with raised beak form spout.
Markings: unsigned well-documented form; polished pontil
Condition: Vintage, Excellent
