Description: A fine Mary Lampman (20th Century) oil painting titled ‘Our Covered Past’, circa 1980.

Note: Represented is an antique covered bridge spanning a creek just above a small waterfall, a modernized cabin is shown to its left. Likely an actual structure in the backwoods of Ontario, the scene is presented to the viewer in full autumn splendour.

Markings: signed lower right, “MARY LAMPMAN”

Condition: Excellent Vintage Condition – Ready for Display.

Artist Biography: Lampman resides in the Niagara area of Southern Ontario and has trained and travelled extensively to deepen her understanding of painting, including with noted Group of Seven artist A. Y. Jackson. Interested in Ontario’s endangered structural buildings, Lampman is best known for her historic subjects of barns and mills. This covered bridge is a true rarity. Currently there is one working covered bridge in Ontario (Waterloo) and a handful in varying states of retirement.
