Dugan Glass Company (Indiana, Pennsylvania, 1904-1909)
‘Pompeian’ Free-form Vase
opal, light blue and golden frit, mold-blown glass
5 ¾” high x 3 ½” diameter
Description: A fine ‘Pompeian’ free-form vase in aqua blue glass with opal and light blue frit and golden ribs made at the Dugan Glass Company in Indiana, Pennsylvania, c. 1904-1909. America’s answer to the popular glasses coming out of Bohemia this line of mold-blown decorative glass, here shown with further spontaneous free-form hand work, also goes by the names ‘Japanese’ and ‘Venetian’. Often underrated it, like Loetz, Tiffany, Kralik, and other glass makers of the era, emulates the aesthetics of ancient glass with regularized free-forms, coloured translucent glass with iridescence.
Condition: Antique, Excellent
For Accuracy: an antique item it is clean and well-formed. Free from damage it shows a twisted and pinched form with varying sized golden frit.
Note: The double gourd vase and champagne bottle are shown for scale only. (The double gourd can be purchased separately, they make a nice pair!)
