Description

Finnish Mid-Century Modern vase, 2 ½” high x 3” diameter, of heavy clear glass with finely engraved image of a nude woman resting beneath a tree, next to a wild flower, the mouth of the dish is heavily angled, made by Kauklahden Lasitehdas, a subsidiary of Riihimaki Glassworks, signed by artist Theodor Kappi,  and dated 1952.

Teodor Kappi was a master engraver, working for the Riihimaki Glassworks and Iittala for many years, and is responsible for the execution of engraving on the art glass of their finest designers such as Tapio Wirkkala, Arttu Brummner, Helena Tynell etc., he is called “Iittala’s finest engraver”.

NOTE: The photographs do not give this vase justice; the clear glass is highly reflective making the engraving difficult to capture. The quality of engraving has superb detailing.

The white spots are reflection NOT damage. This item is in Excellent Vintage Condition, I would never misrepresent an item.
