Notes: Bohemian Josephinenhütte ruby glass portrait vase with baluster body, on raised foot and decorated with an all-over field of gilt dots and entwined foliate, the large oval opaline glass medallion features a fine head and shoulder portrait of a young woman with blue eyes and red drop earrings wearing a white gown and veil, possibly a commemorative wedding portrait, is showcased in a heavy gilt border with repeating diamond pattern, it is unsigned, there is a single gilt inscribed “4.” inside the foot, made in the pre/cusping-photographic period c. 1840-1880.

For Accuracy Only: there is some light rubbing to the gilt as is common, this is only visible under close inspection and commensurate with age. There are four minuscule fleabites on the inside collar of the foot – these are not visible unless the vase is flipped upside down and inspected closely. The cranberry is strong – it is ready for display.
