Hand-Enameled Burmese Glass

An American satin finish Burmese Art Glass vinegar cruet, 6 ¾ inches high x 3 ½ inches in diameter, made by the Mt. Washington Glass Co. (1837-1894), Mount Washington area of South Boston / New Bedford, Massachusetts, circa 1895, unsigned. The reeded onion shaped body rises on a plain narrow neck that ends with a long spout. There is a loop handle attached opposite the spout. The Burmese glass is cased over a white satin glass and is decorated with groups of petite fleur among foliage. The Burmese glass ranges in color from a pale yellow on the bottom half of the cruet changing quickly to a nice salmon on the upper half. The reeded flame stopper is yellow on the neck changing to salmon on the flame. The satin white glass bottom has a polished pontil. ‘SH
