Selena Vase
12 1/4″ high x 2 1/2″ wide
An elegant Scandinavian modern art glass vase made of opalescent ‘Selena’ glass designed by Sven Palmqvist (Swedish, 1904-1984) for Orrefors Glasbruk (1898-1990), c. 1950s. The exaggerated baluster form with flaring floriform mouth is made of opalescent glass that appears to glow with the colour of reflected moonlight; the glass is literally named after ‘Selene’ the Greek goddess of the moon.
“With glass you are able to sculpt with light, and with the help of light rays paint colors. Glass can express much more than other materials and is eternal. ” ~ Sven Palmqvist..
Dimensions: 12 ¼” high x 2 ½” wide
Condition: It is in Very Good Original Condition with no notable damage or repairs.
For Accuracy Only: there is a single minuscule flea bite (1/32”) with bruise (1/8”) along the outside edge of the base and a couple very light scratches around the exterior. The integrity of the vase remains intact; any light area of wear is commensurate with age and light use. The original silver foil label is present on one side near the base and the signature is clear.
