Reference: This vase is referenced on page 47 of Mark Hills book Hi Sklo Lo Sklo, “A Zelezny Brod glassworks sculptural vase, no. 70214, designed by Miloslav Klinger: 12 in. (30.5 cm), high. Klinger was a key designer at Zelezny Brod for nearly 40 years from 1948. During this time he produced hundreds of designs for off-hand vases, bowls and other objects, many in association with the glassmakers Josef Cvrcek and Frantisek Kyska. Klinger had also learnt how to blow hot glass himself, and knew Frantisek Zernek, so was well-versed in hot-working techniques. This organic form with its asymmetric rim and side aperture hints at Scandinavian designs, particularly Timo Sarpaneva’s 1954 Orchid vase for Iittala.”
