Memento mori photographic pendent, containing the head & shoulders portrait of a beautiful young girl, her shoulders turned slightly to her right but her head strait looking directly at the viewer. She has a short pageboy haircut with bow and is smiling angelically. The photograph is inscribed in the print lower right: Juanita / Ball / 1935; it was taken at Juanita Ball Photography Studio, Genesee, New York.
The photograph has been mounted in a fairly large oval brass pendent, 2 ⅞ inches high (+1/4 inch attached ring) x 2 ⅜ wide, behind thick beveled glass. The completely sealed back of the pendent is engraved: In Loving Memory / of our dear Polly / Mother and Aunt Grace / 1935.
There is also a large loosely attached tapering loop for either a chain or a ribbon so that the pendent may be worn around the neck.
CONDITION: Excellent vintage condition. There is a small area at the top of the photo that is light / undeveloped. I believe this to have been done intentionally possibly signifying the hereafter. The case has a nice light original patina (never polished) that gives it a soft gracefully aged appearance.
