Early/Mid 19th Century
Treen Barrel
Original Patina, Turned Wood
2 5/8” high x 2 ½” diameter
Possibly sycamore, this diminutive turned wood barrel may have been a spice or tobacco barrel. It has a good capacity being nearly as wide as it is high. While these near proportions may sound boxy it is carefully proportioned with a bulbous middle and a delineated lid and base with subtle kick. The lid is very slightly domed.
Good Condition
For Accuracy: an antique it may show expected light signs of age and use related wear. Some light nibbles to the screw fit lid from use and a three shrinkage cracks, two to the lid and one to the barrel. Attractive with early original patination.
