Watercolor, heightened with white, 7 1/4″ h. x 9 1/2″ w. (sight), painted by listed artist William Gardner Blackwood (Scotland, Canada, b. 1892), signed lower left, titled in pencil verso “Carwatha Lake” (probably a mis-spelling of Kawartha Lake located in Ontario, Canada).
The lake on the left side of the picture surrounds a sparsely treed rise of land that juts from the right side and extends past the center of the painting; a distinct and recognizable feature of Ontario’s Cottage Country.
Dimensions (sight): 7 1/4″ high x 9 1/2″ wide
Dimensions (framed): 13 3/8″ high x 15 3/8″ wide
It is in Excellent Vintage Condition. Framed in Original Frame and Matted behind glass, there is some light discoloration to the mat commensurate with age. The watercolor retains an excellent strong color.
(The colour variations in the above picture are from glass glare and reflection from the photography. Taking pictures of reflective surfaces and removing glare completely is challenging, we do our best. This is not damage.)
