Description: A fine original Ernest Alfred Dalton (1887-1963) AOCA post-impressionist oil on Masonite painting titled ‘Gloucester, Massachusetts.’ This brightly coloured artwork depicts a small grouping of sailing vessels in the Gloucester harbour at dawn.
Notes: The composition and colours are masterfully executed.

Artist Biography: Ernest Alfred Dalton (England/Canada 1887-1963) AOCA. Born in Brixton, England Dalton immigrated to Toronto, Ontario, Canada in 1924 and spent a great deal of time painting in Ontario and Massachusetts where he became one of the foremost Canadian landscape artists. Dalton was a Toronto furrier and well regarded Olympic fencer, as well as an artist. Exhibitions: Royal Canadian Academy of Arts from 1924 to 1941; and at the Canadian National Exhibition, Toronto in 1930 and 1931. Memberships: Associate with the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts.
