Beautiful impressionist landscape painting in oil, 16” h. X 20” w., of Friars Craig Derwentwater, by listed British artist Ernest Knight (British, 1915-1995), appropriately signed lower left and further titled and signed on the reverse.

Condition: It is in Excellent Vintage Condition; this painting is a fine example of Knight’s impressionist work.
Artist Biography: Knight was born in London, and was the grandson of the painter Ernest Griset. He trained at the Brighton and Chelsea Schools of Art and then spent many years painting abroad, including Africa. He spent time living on Dartmoor, and is well known for his paintings of the West Country coast and countryside. Knight exhibited at the Royal Society of Oil Painters and the Royal Society of Marine Artists. Some of his works were used in illustrations and calendars, particularly in the 1950’s.
