Catalogue Note: Ben Vrackie, literally the ‘Speckled Mountain’ in Gaelic, rises near Pitlochry and is located in Scotland. Described as a Corbett, a separate hill between 2,999ft and 2,500ft in height with a drop of more than 500ft all around, it measures approximately 2759ft and is a noted ascent. The feature of this painting, other than the ascent, is disguised by cattle at the far side of the waters edge – what at first glance appears to be more cattle are actually – a circle of standing stones! The cottage is too far away to be the Faskally Cottages Stones  (https://www.megalithic.co.uk/article.php?sid=913) but there are many in the area. (Source: benvrackie.co.uk)
