SOLD – Joseph Monk – Loading Wood

Oil on canvas winter landscape painting by Canadian artist Joseph Monk titled by me “Loading Logs”, 23 ⅜ inches x 29 ⅜ inches sight. In the center of the picture is a large sled on wooden runners, hitched to two horses (one brown the other white) and a man loading it with logs from a pile nearby. The snow covered road they are on cuts through a winter landscape between two opposing stands of evergreen trees with some bare deciduous trees scattered about. In the background can be seen a country home and beyond it the Laurentian Mountains. The sky is bright with some light clouds and the shadows are long. It is signed lower right: “Joseph Monk”
