NOTES: Okey lived in a New England for where he fell in love with painting the coast, a practice he continued into his time in British Columbia.
CONDITION: Excellent Vintage Condition – no damage, no restoration.
BIOGRAPHY: Okey, Ronald N. – b. 1921. Born in Northampton, England, his early promise as an artist earned him a scholarship to the Northampton School of art. He emigrated to Canada in 1949, living in Toronto and Colorado Springs, Colo. until 1954. In 1957 he began studying fine art and was elected to the Ontario Institute of Painters in 1963. Working with palette knife and brush, he spends his summers on the coast of Mass., U.S.A., where he finds as subjects the old harbours and fishing boats of New England. He has had three one-man shows on the West Coast of British Columbia, one of which was presented by the Harrison Galleries of Vancouver (1970).
