Zoltan Herzegh (Hungarian American, 1881-1952)
‘An Impression,’ c.1929
silver bromoil
(sight) 9” high x 12 ½” wide
(framed) 21” high x 25” wide
Notes: A mysterious silver bromoil photograph titled ‘An Impression’ by listed Hungarian American photographer Zoltan Herczegh (1881-1952), taken and printed c. 1929.
A Lynchian encounter with strange beings moving in strange ways? Or a photo club taking macro photographs at the far end of the Hillsboro, Oregon pedestrian tunnel? Herczegh had a talent for shifting the mundane into a near- otherworldly experience. The atmosphere of this photograph exhibits the balanced textural, lighting and compositional extremes one comes to expect with Herzegh’s work.
Condition: Vintage, Excellent
For Accuracy Only: There is a 1 ½” long x ½” wide slight bulge, right of center that is only noticeable on close inspection as it is obscured by the dark lower third of the photograph. – A rare photographer to run across, ‘An Impression’ is a superb example of his work. See Photographs.
