Art Nouveau ‘Portrait’ vase
Amphora, ‘Ivory’ porcelain
4 3/8” high x 3 7/8” diameter
Notes: An Art Nouveau vase decorated in the graphic style made popular by the likes of Alphonse Mucha and applied to the ceramic arts by Nikolaus Kannhӓuser at Amphora. It depicts an idealized young maiden with flowing hair entwined with garlands of colorful blossoms within a hand-painted background of a lush forest all with gilt highlights. The shouldered form, made of amphora’s patented ‘ivory’ porcelain, sports a slender soliflore neck.
Markings: impressed on base, ‘AMPHORA’, ‘478’
Condition: Excellent
For Accuracy: an antique vase it may show expected light signs of age and use related wear. The gilt is perfect and the enamel is superb – a stunning piece.
