Description

Description & Notes: Rare Moorcroft cup & saucer in the Eventide landscape pattern. Designed and introduced in 1923 by William Moorcroft it forms part of the desirable Art Deco continuous landscape grouping (moonlit blue, eventide, dawn, black), this variation illustrating lush green trees at illuminated by a bright gradient of yellows, oranges and reds. While not a flambé the effect is stunning and provides a lively contrast with the cool greens and blues of the countryside at dusk.

Markings: Impressed on base of both pieces

Condition: A period piece, it is offered in excellent original condition – no damage, no repair. Nearly 100 years old, it shows very light signs of wear commensurate with age as one would expect: light crazing to interior of cup, two small scratches on saucer surface, center. Fine attention paid to pattern tubing and paint gradients. Included in this lot is a complimentary custom cobalt blue felt protective pad, visible in the pictures; this allows the cup to rest softly on the saucer without wear.
