Biography: Alistair Macready Bell (1913-1997) Born Darlington, England; emigrated to Canada 1922; settled in Vancouver 1928. He specialized in graphic works, including woodcuts, wood engravings, etchings, and lithographs. He also worked in watercolour, pencil, crayon, pen, and other medium. “By his own admission, Bell was always drawn to subject matter in which the linear, rhythmic quality of shape predominated.
