Description & Notes: Original Canadian School drypoint etching titled ‘Georgian Bay’ by Marion J. Johnston, exhibited at the Hamilton Women’s Art Association, c. 1940. The etching is executed with a deft hand depicting a pair of iconic windswept pines announcing the end of a path towards Georgian Bay. The subject is immediately recognizable by the style and formation of the foliage, landmass in the distance, expansive vignette evening sky, and Canadian School approach.
