Notes: Offered is a British sterling silver basket with central lobed bowl and symmetrical pierced gallery showcasing alternating open scrollwork separated by scalloped ovals, finished with a rolled rim and raised on four cast and applied foliate feet, made by Gourdel Vales & Co., Birmingham, England, circa 1920.
Gourdel Vales & Co. was established in Paris in 1820-1865 by Constant Vales, continued as Gourdel Vales & Co. (1865-1930) and Gourdel Vales & Co. Ltd (until 1939) in London and Birmingham.
