Birks (Canada Est 1879)
Art Nouveau Bowl
gadrooned rim, pierced sterling silver, four applied feet
impressed ‘BIRKS’ ‘STERLING’
8” diameter x 3” high
444.3 grams
An early Birks sterling silver bowl with pierced gallery showcasing alternating conjoined Art Nouveau foliates, finished with a gadrooned rim and raised on four curved art nouveau spade feet.
Condition: Antique/Vintage, Very Good
For Accuracy: an antique/vintage item it may show expected light signs of age. There is a miniscule dent off-center in the interio (1/32″). The bowl has a warm rich patina that has been left lightly hand-polished to preserve the patina for generations to come.
Notes: Birks is considered the Tiffany’s of Canada; the quality is evident in the finesse of craftsmanship and overall weight. This is not a thinly stamped piece of silver like one encounters with newer sterling or silver-plate rather it is a fine piece of early 20th Century Canadian silver.
