Notes: Set of 5 Victorian sterling silver Fiddle pattern teaspoons, 5 ⅛ inches long, made by Charles Boyton II, London, circa 1850. Each spoon has a narrow stem with large terminal and is attached to the oval handle by a forged drop. They weight approximately 15.84 grams @ / 79.2 grams total / 2.5+ troy ounces.
Markings: Each spoon is impressed on the back of the terminal” with the following 5 hallmarks: “CB” in rectangular cartouche – maker’s hallmark for Charles Boyton II; Leopards head – London city mark; Lion passant – denotes sterling silver; “P” – Old English P – year date code for 1850 ; Queen Victoria’s head facing dexter – denotes Duty paid
Condition: Very good vintage condition, never monogrammed. Three spoons each have a very shallow minor tiny impression in the bowl which is being mentioned for accuracy only and they are all without any unusual wear to the edges.
