Elegant early Victorian British sterling silver serving spoon in the Old English pattern, fashioned by George William Adams, Chawner & Co., Hosier Lane, Smithfield, London, appropriately marked with touchmarks and hallmarks including the Lion Passant, Leopards Head, Queen Victoria bust duty mark, and date code for 1845.

Dimensions: 11 7/8” x 2 1/8”

Weight: 148.8 grams (4.78 ozt.)

Back of the upper stem is impressed with the following touchmarks: 1 – “GA” in a double circle cartouche = Chawner & Co. (George William Adams) maker’s mark 2 – Lion passant denotes sterling silver 3 – Leopards head = London town mark 4 – “k” year code for 1845 5 – Queen Victoria’s bust = duty mark
