Description & Notes: Fine American sterling silver tong (for sugar or candies) in the Fairfax lion’s paw pattern, marked for William B. Durgin Co. of Rhode Island, NY, circa 1910. Although the maker’s mark is a Durgin ‘D’ the finely cast tongs were actually made by Gorham who continued to use the previous marks until around 1930, this particular version dates between 1880-1905.
