Rare and amusing American sterling silver figural match safe, made circa 1911. Advertising the Barnett National Bank convention of ORC of America 1911, the embossed body represents an alligator/crocodile its upper jaw and head extended across the top to create a spring hinged lid while its tail follows the rounded base and extends part way up the opposite side. The creature’s body encircles palm fronds.
