An English made (“J.G”, Birmingham, 1900-1) sterling silver match safe / vesta case of rectangular form with a hinged flip top, angled plain edges, engraved on one side with allover foliate scrolls while the other side is similarly engraved except for the lower right corner which was left plain for an inscription but was left vacant. It has a ring just below the hinge so that it may be used as a watch fob, is 2 inches high x 1 ½ inches wide x 3/8 inches thick and weights 26.5 grams = .85 troy ounces = .93 ounce. Fully hallmarked.
