SUMMARY:  Sampson-Matthews silkscreen/serigraph on brown cardstock, titled ‘Aura Lea Lake’, originally painted in 1916 by Tom Thomson, likely while on a camping trip with Lauren Harris, and currently housed in the McMichael Canadian Art Collection, Kleinburg (1970.2).

Described in the Sampson-Matthews catalogue on pg. 12, “No. 77 … ‘princ eof painters’ Tom Thomson … has succeeded supremely well in expressing something of the essence of the Canadian scene with the most exhilarating simplicity and charm’”.

DIMENSIONS (actual):  19 ½” high x 23 ½” wide

DIMENSIONS (framed):  22 ¾” high x 26 ¾” wide

MARKINGS:  unmarked; well-documented

CONDITION:    Vintage, Very Good Condition.  For Accuracy: There is a scratch center left, as is common on SM art, else excellent. Housed in the original 2” painted Frame, off-white, slight gloss (pictured on pg. 15 of the SM Catalogue).
