Description & Notes: A fine crystal bowl designed by Erika Lagerbielke for Orrefors, Sweden, circa 1980. The large and heavy round bowl has deep vertical ribs on the exterior with an outwardly angled rim and smooth interior are inspired the houses of the zodiac and radiance of celestial bodies. It is through this interplay of reflection, refraction and transparency that the material colour and three-dimensional properties of the form are created and emphasized. The creation of a modern style through traditional inspiration is the hallmark of Scandinavian masters and the resulting modernism of this piece suits inclusion in any style interior – contemporary to antique.
