Markings: necklace and bracelet impressed on clasp ‘RICTAX’ / ‘MEX-25’ / ‘TH-26’
Condition: Vintage, Very Good
For Accuracy: insignificant wear, as expected on any vintage jewelry. The safety catches don’t catch however the clasps are secure and in excellent working order. See photographs.
Biography: “Erika Hult de Corral was a Colombian jewelry designer born in 1929 in Bogotá, Colombia. She studied jewelry design at the Parsons School of Design in New York and later at the École des Arts Decoratifs in Paris. / Hult de Corral’s jewelry designs are characterized by their bold, sculptural forms and use of vibrant, colorful gemstones. She often incorporated pre-Columbian motifs into her designs, paying homage to her Latin American roots. / In the 1950s, Hult de Corral began designing jewelry for Cartier’s New York boutique, where her designs quickly gained recognition for their unique style and craftsmanship. She later founded her own jewelry brand, Erika Hult de Corral, in New York City. / Hult de Corral’s pieces have been exhibited in museums around the world, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Louvre in Paris, and the Museo del Oro in Bogotá. Her work has also been featured in numerous publications and has won numerous awards for its innovative design. / Today, Hult de Corral is considered one of the most important Latin American jewelry designers of the 20th century, and her pieces remain highly sought after by collectors and jewelry enthusiasts around the world.”
