PotteryStriking Moorcroft flambé vase in the desirable ‘leaf & berry’ pattern, designed by William Moorcroft, made c. 1928-1936, appropriately marked to the base with impressed, ‘MADE IN / ENGLAND’ / William Moorcroft left slanting facsimile impressed signature in blue / and the impressed mark, ‘POTTER TO H.M. THE QUEEN’. The pleasingly proportioned flaring trumpet form body is decorated with a wide band of tube-lined leaves separated by berries reserved against a flambé ground shading to a deep blue. The glaze is a radiant flambé, burnishing the green leaves and purple berries with intense reds and oranges with brilliantly infused green and yellow highlights.
