The Smith Metal Arts Co. was founded in 1919 under the direction of Fred Smith, a previous Heintz Art Metal Shop sales manager, using the Silver Crest trademark, after the sudden death of Otto Heintz in 1918. The craftsmanship is of the highest quality exhibiting the best in early 20th Century American Arts & Crafts.
