PotterySold Wedgwood (Est. 1759) Sacrifice to Aesculapius & Ulysees Staying the Chariot of Victory to hasten the defeat of Troy. blue jasper dip, white appliqué Impressed Wedgwood, 2, S, E, c. 1790-1840 2 1/4" high x 3 3/4" wide (at handle) Note: This piece is of particular interest as it was made during Josiah Wedgwood's lifetime, likely at the Bell Works (the rented Adams Brick House) - it was during this period that Queen Charlotte awarded the title 'Pottery to Her Majesty.' It was also during this time that the formula for Jasperware was perfected and production started.
