Western style painter, worked in Kyoto. In 1888 graduated from Prefectural School of Painting. Went to Tokyo; worked briefly with Koyama Shotaro, then entered Harada Naojiro’s school, The Shobikan. Back in Kyoto helped organize the Kansai Art Academy, later becoming its director.
