Description: A fine American oil on board painting by listed artist Harold C. Brockton Dunbar (Massachusetts, 1882-1953), entitled ‘Fisherman’s Stage, Late Afternoon.’
Notes: Depicted is a fisherman’s stage, the door ajar and numerous storage containers placed around the pebbled yard. The days suns streams between the two buildings and plays on the long grasses. Water and a sailboat can be seen in the distance. The location is likely along the coast in Chatham, Massachusetts, a frequently painted location and where Dunbar lived and served as editor of the Cape Cod Beacon.
