Skrdlovice / Glashütte Beránek (Czechoslovakia, Est. 1938)
Jan Beránek (Czech, 20th Century)
UV Freeform Propeller Vase, c. 1964
uranium glass
8 ½” high x 6 ½” wide
A dynamic hot-worked ‘propeller’ vase designed by Jan Beránek in 1964 for Skrdlovice / Glashütte Beránek. Beránek used a pulled free-form hot-worked technique on the surface to create a highly sculptural effect. It is best viewed in the round showcasing a different visual effect from all angles and in the shifting lighting variations through-out the day.
Condition: Vintage, Very Good
For Accuracy: insignificant wear, was expected on a vintage vase. There is a single flea-bite at the edge of a propeller, else excellent. Under a UV light it exhibits a strong fluorescence. See Photographs.
