Goteburg Sugar Bowl & Creamer, c. 1960s
with original option sugar spoon
Teak & Stainless Steel
11 1/8” long x 5 ½” wide x 1 7/8” high
Notes: An unusual and innovative Bauhaus cream and sugar designed by Carl Auböch in Austria and retailed by Arthur Salm Inc in the United States, c. 1960’s. At first glance the matching chrome dishes, set into a teak riser, appear to be condiment dishes but upon closer inspection one notices the divot in one dish – not a spoon rest but a spout! Typical of the Bauhaus the mixture of form and function are offered with a modern understated and highly stylish minimalism.
Condition: Vintage, Very Good
For Accuracy: a vintage set it may show expected light signs of age and use related wear; one dish has some light moisture pitting which is light and does not detract from the usefulness and integrity of the bowl. It is complete with the original optional sugar spoon (that has wrongly been placed in the cream spout in the photographs), these are scarcely found.
