Rare English Art Deco Tudric polished pewter cocktail / martini set with hammered / planished surface, by Liberty & Co, London, consisting of a shaker and 6 glasses, circa 1920s-1930s. This set has its original polished finish just as Tudric pewter was originally retailed.
The flaring conical shaped pitcher style shaker with angular handle, screw cap on the angled spout and cork pressure fitted domed lid, measures 8 ¾ inches high x 7 ¼ inches across.
The conical cocktail glasses, 3 ⅝ inches high x 2 ½ inches diameter have short flaring stems each with a stylized concentric design repeated four times, all on a stepped foot.
Dimensions (shaker): 8 ¾” high x 7 ¼” wide across
Dimensions (glasses): 3 ⅝” high x 2 ½” diameter
Markings: the base of the shaker is impressed, “H” / “MADE” / “IN” / “ENGLAND” / “TUDRIC” / “PEWTER” / “MADE BY LIBERTY & CO” / “01323” / 1 ¾ PINTS”; all glasses are impressed on the base, “1” / “MADE” / “IN” / “ENGLAND” / “TUDRIC” / “PEWTER” / “01604” / “LIBERTY & CO”
Condition: Very Good Vintage Condition – no damage, no repair. There are some light signs of light use as is expected on a travel item of this age. The large pressure fitted cork has shrunk some and doesn’t fit as tightly as it did in the 1920s; this is common for cork fitted lids and does not invalidate the integrity. It displays and functions well.
