Description: A fine Doulton Burslem blue & white jardinière depicting Taymouth Castle, Perthshire, Scotland with stags enjoying the surrounding estate. Embellished with git highlights it was retailed at Philips’s, Mount St., London W.
Notes: Taymouth Castle, which stands on the grounds of the 16th Century Balloch Castle built by Sir Colin Campbell, is the seat of the Campbell clan. Re-built in the Neo-Gothic style by the 1st Marquis of Breadalbane in the early 19th Century it is sited as one of the most important castles still in private hands. Notably the first visitors after its completion were Queen Victoria and Prince Albert in 1842.
